Another Christmas has passed. I thinnk I did all right. I received two new Wii games, family feud and Jepordy. I also received a thermal top, a deadliest catch season 6 video and cap and a pair of pajamas.
The best gift I had was getting five days off to spend with wife and family. The song by the Counting crows pretty much sums it up for me it's called, "A long December'.
This year will be busy anyways since there will be the expenses of moving into a new home. I feel blessed that we will be getting a place that we will own and I am humbled that it will happen at all. I was living under the assumption that I would always be in an apartment renting. I guess I was happily wrong.

Christmas Peak

Christmas peak is winding down. Since thanksgiving I have forgotten how many hours I have worked. I know last week ended up being 55 because of a fire at work and the week before that was 60 and 50 before that. It wears on you emotionally not seeing family as much even when you know it will be over soon. I know of two people at work who mentioned that they have not even had a chance to put up their Christmas tree.
The other tough part of Christmas is when the let some of the Holiday associates go. You really learn to like some of them and it seems they kepp the ones no one likes and get rid of the ones everyone likes. I will miss Sal for his Humor. Jason for his Samoan Language lessons. And Linda for the strong spirit she had.
This is the nature of peak you go through wild mood swings. On a typical Day I wanted to take a point and get away from all the headache the next minute I am joking with friends and after that I am depressed and trying to kepp from crying.
Such is the Nature of peak!

Patience

I am just posting a little random thought not sure if anyone will read it. I have had some challenges with patience lately. Work has been running rough for me and I know Lisa is having some challenges too.
You see we both want more time together but it seems we are being driven apart by our jobs. I work nights so enough said about how that goes. Lisa has been facing the challenge of having more then one manager making the schedule. So each week it has been a head ache for her knowing what she will be working. One week she works 4 days one night next week it is all nights and even the nights she works is different one week from the next. The other part she hates is that her days off tend to be Friday and Saturday which leaves hardly anytime for us.
I know it is only temporary but I hate not having her around. Lisa is the love of my llife and not having her there really stinks.

Las Vegas Vacation

Well Thanks to Mom and Dad Lisa and I had a chance to go to Las Vegas. It was very fun indeed.
On day one it was travel day and I did notice that even though Nevada is very desolate there is still a certain beauty about it. Going through small towns where the only thing left is an abondoned buildnig or trailers or houses. I guess I see the beauty in the decay on structures. You also see the mountains rising from the basin as you look at the strait stretch of raod you are about to drive. I also enjoyed seeing the geology of Death Valley the Alluvial Fans, the mountains with their sedimentary rock being bent and shaped. I am hoping moms photos came out good there are a few I had her take. We did get to LV on the evening so it was rest up for the next day.
Day two was spent driving around a little and seeing some of the casino's and their malls and what not. We saw the Bellagio, Caesers Palace and a few others. I must admit I can't remember which ones we saw which day. The other thing about the second day was it was very cold. There was a strong wind blowing from the north. We also had dinner at PF Changs. I really like there food it was very good. We had some Lettuce Wraps for appitizer and Broccoli Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork and Honey Chicken. It was all really good.
Sunday was spent going to church and then we went to Hoover Dam. It was cool to see it but man it was crowded when we got there. It took for ever to get there the last 4 miles it was bumper to bumper traffic.
Monday was spent looking at some more Casinos. Should have sprung for a Gondola Ride at the Venitian but oh well. We also had a chance to see the Aquarium at Mandola Bay it was cool to see all the different Fish that were there.
Tuesday we took in a session at the Las Vegas Temple. I love how it looked inside it was so beautiful. We went to a rib joint that was really good and Dad arranged for us to see the F.A.S.T. center fro Las Vegas. It is a place that deals with traffic in Las Vegas as well as houses the Nevada Highway Patrol. It was cool to see what they can do to help control traffic flow. The third Highlight of the day was getting to see Danita Knight Bugher. She was a friend of Lisa and I back in our Chico Days. She is a teacher in Las Vegas and introduced us to a Deli that if I ever get back to Las Vegas I want to go to again. It is a Deli in the New York New York Hotel. It was like the kind you would get at a New York City Deli. The Corned beef was not off of some Loaf but it came off a real still cooking Corn Beef Brisket. The bread it was on was really good and the atmosphere was really cool.
On wedensday it was time to head back but we did take an alternate route and drovw along the Extraterrestrial Highway. We stopped in Rachel Nevada, which is close to Area 51, at the AleInn. Picked up souvenior shirt for Lisa and I. I would say the trip was an overall success. If Lisa and I ever do get down there again I still want to go to the Gun Store that has a firing range where you can shoot AUtomatic weapons.
That was my trip. I hope to be able to get a few pictures up when I gett hem form mom or download the few I took.

When a new year starts we set goals. Well I wanted to work on a goal of finding my roots. So far I have found out My dad was born in San Francisco and my mom was born in Sutter County. I have also learned how many different ways you can spell Bernoudy (Bernudi and Bernuti). The biggest Challenge is it seems the Grandmas have both been marreid at least to two others which leaves some gaps. But I can say I know my paternal grandpa's name was Elvis Ephram Dobkins and he married my Grandma Laura A Bernoudy (Dobkins and Thompson). Grandpa Elvis lived to 68 and Grandma Laura lived to the age of 29. Still trying to find info on moms side she never realy talked about her family much.
